Reading Time: 3 min
In 2020, when Covid restricted us within 4 walls of the house; I started blogging. Together with the help of my brother, I created a webpage and started putting content in it. Initially, I was motivated to post twice a month but soon I stopped. Three years since then, my blogging channel saw no new post. That’s when I stumbled upon an ad in Instagram of a 6 day content writing workshop by Uma Madhavi, founder of Content Vidhya. I scrolled over the first time. But, when it popped up again, I thought to give it a try. What if it helps me start writing again!!
The landing page had all the information I wanted and I joined the course!
The Course Details
The first day started with Uma Ma’am briefing about her own journey and experience in content writing and the birth of ContentVidhya. Then she discussed about how to plan topics, write an appealing headline and an engrossing introduction about the topic. At the end of the class she gave an assignment to choose a topic of our choice and write the introduction for the same.
The second day she spoke about researching and writing the content body, how to use the advanced search option of Google to search for relevant data related to the topic and the importance of white space in the content which makes it more readable. She also stressed about writing in simple language to connect with all readers instantly.
The third session was more about the conclusion and the tone of the content. A checklist on proofreading and content writing was also shared. She expressed about how too much use of punctuation can confuse readers but the correct usage expresses the right pause, stop, emphasize or question. At the end of the session, we got an assignment to write a blog on the topic we chose on the Day 1 and submit within 24 hours.
We had a break on the fourth day. We could choose to either attend the fourth session of ‘Copywriting’ OR a 21-day session for copywriting and she recommended the latter. So, that was an off day.
The fifth session was mainly on niche writing and she explained us how to effortlessly find out our niche. She shared some insights on keywords to be used in content writing.
The final session focused on career options and how to make a portfolio. She also spoke about the charges we can implement for a content and how to remain connected to our audience.
My feedback on the content writing workshop with ContentVidhya
My journey through this workshop has been satisfying. The sessions were live and highly informative. Uma Ma’am took questions twice during the one and a half hour session everyday and also mentioned the assignment deadlines very clearly. Recorded sessions and pdf checklists with a lifetime access was provided. Content Vidhya also promises a lifelong support to us with any queries regarding content writing. For me, it was definitely a push to start writing again from where I stopped. I would recommend this course to anyone who wishes to begin their writing career.
